Schlaegel's Homegrown Popcorn shown on local newscast
    (8/3/2009) News anchor Ben Bauman and meteorologist Ashley Meenen from KTKA channel 49 ABC in Topeka recently paid a visit to Schlaegel's Homegrown Popcorn in Whiting to shoot footage for a story that aired on the July 29 6:00 and 10:00 newscasts.

    As a part of the station's "Main Street Live" tour of various northeast Kansas communities, the story highlighted a few tourist attractions in the Holton area. Channel 49 was live in Holton at the Jackson County Fair for their 6:00 newscast.

    "We love the exposure," Schlaegel's Mike Tanking said. "We are out here in the country and we really appreciate that Ben and Ashley came out to see us."

    Both Bauman and Meenen were able to taste warm popcorn that was fresh out of the cooker.

    "The chocolate drizzled caramel is really, really good." Bauman said.
